Metro Chiefs |
The Washington DC Metro Chiefs qualified for the 1998 Pro Flag Bowl championships in Canton, Ohio by defeating the Baltimore Cowboys in the Carolina Challenge tournament Labor Day weekend in Durham, NC.
Although the Metro Chiefs lost a close championship game to Cleveland Gibbs in Durham, the second place finish earned them a spot in Canton. At the 1998 Pro Flag Bowl, in a rematch with the same Baltimore team they defeated to get to Canton, they lost by two points when they elected to go on forth down and two instead of attempting a 39 yard field goal.
The Metro Chiefs have consistently played at a championship level in the North Virginia Flag Football Association. In national amateur tournaments, they have showed the same winning style of play that nearly propelled them to the championship game in Canton.
