Professional Flag Football League

The foundation of the PFFL is it's teams - they own the league.

The PFFL concept is one city - one team, paid players, with regular season games leading up to the crowning of a Pro Flag Bowl Champion. While PFFL teams are franchised entities, they will share equally in league revenues and have equaled voting rights.

During the 1998 season, the league played four Challenge Tournaments with the top four teams advancing to the Pro Flag Bowl in Canton, Ohio. Cleveland Gibbs, a legend in amateur flag football, defeated the Baltimore Cowboys for the first ever professional flag football championship.

The 1999 PFFL season will again take shape in two forms - Pro Flag Challenge Tournaments and interdivisional  PFFL regular season games.

The PFFL will begin regular season play with six teams playing the first ever Pro Flag Football League schedule with full regulation games. The six teams located in the mid-west are: Cleveland, Buffalo, Columbus, Dayton, Toledo, and Ft. Wayne. The teams will play 5 home and 5 away games leading up to the crowning of the 1999 Pro Flag Bowl Champion.

A series of several challenge tournaments will be played around the USA to introduce the 9 man game in areas where the PFFL plans to expand.  The top eight teams will advance to a playoff and a chance to play the 1999 Pro Flag Bowl Champion. Four to eight events are planned with a maximum of $2,500.00* cash to the winning team per event. (*See Note at bottom of page.)

Beginning with the 2000 season, regional divisions will form with six teams allocated to each division. Teams will play 10 regular season games on stadium fields with a full 60 minute regulation clock. Our objective will be to keep travel time between cities (teams) to within six hours, or 300 miles, allowing teams to travel without an overnight stay. After 1999, only franchised teams with players under contract will be allow to participate in the PFFL.
