The PFFL is the teams and players. The league office would like your comments on the above 2000 format. Please read the following and click the link to email the league office.

Pluses:

  1. The proposed format will get the PFFL halfway to playing the desired regulation game / league type format. One city, one team, six team divisions, playing regulation games leading to the playoffs.
  2. It slowly moves flag football to the professional level avoiding the problems occurring in league play in 1999. Team forfeits, poor fields, too few officials, etc.
  3. It gives teams a chance to play outside their region in tournament play.
  4. It will be possible to promote and seek out national sponsorship for the tournaments, playoffs, and Championship game.

Minuses:

  1. It leaves the league more on a semi-pro level than pro level.
  2. Teams are not franchised and are left unprotected. They will sign an operational agreement with the PFFL.
  3. Players will not be compensated by the league, but may be paid or compensated by their individual teams.
  4. While it will be possible to promote and seek out national sponsorship for the tournaments, teams will have little national support for home regulation games.

Other Notes:

  1. The season and tournaments dates have to be set by early January.
  2. Challenge Tournament dates will need to be set by February 1st, 2000.
  3. Teams, directors, etc. will need to be in place by March 1st, 2000.
  4. Future Question - is the PFFL going to be a spring / summer, fall league, or both.
